You can define how every scan automatically reacts to a found issue:

  • Firstly, open the Avast user interface and go to three-dash Menu icon and then go to Settings
  • Click on Protection that appears in the left panel and make sure that Virus Scans is selected
  • Click on the scan which you want to define automatic behavior for:
  • Scroll down, mark the box that appears next to Conduct Automatic actions while this scan. Now choose which action you wish Avast to conduct when an issue is found. The following actions are available on your screen:

Fix Automatically: Avast attempts to repair the file. If unsuccessful then, the file is moved to the Virus Chest and if that fails then, Avast removes the file

Move the file to Virus Chest: Avast sends the file directly to the Virus Chest where the file cannot harm your system

Delete File: Avast permanently removes the file from your Computer

If you wish Avast to do nothing when an infected file is located, unmark the box next to Conduct automatic actions while this scan (not suggested). To manage unfixed scan detections at any time, go to Protection > Virus Scans > Scan history

Adjust Scan Settings

However, customizable settings are available for only some Virus Scans, it is advisable to only modify the settings for Custom Scans and to adjust scan Settings:

  • First of all, open the Avast user interface and go to Protection > Virus Scans
  • Click on Settings gear icon appears in the top-right corner of the Virus Screen display
  • Now, choose the scan which you want to adjust settings for
  • After that, configure your preferred settings

Review Scan History

  • Firstly, open the Avast user interface and go to Protection > Virus Scans
  • Now, click on Scan history and hover the cursor over scan panel and after that, click on the down arrow to see the scan information
  • Click on the red X that appears in the top-left corner to get back to the main Virus Scans Screen
